ESG goals – an important part of life at Camphill School Aberdeen

August 2, 2023

At Camphill School Aberdeen, ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) initiatives play an important role as we work on our £10million capital campaign, Building Futures Transforming Lives, in direct response to the current crisis in care.

We’re extremely grateful to have the support of local businesses who continue to help us on our journey to raise essential funds for the school and a number of companies have chosen us as part of their ESG programmes to show their ongoing support.

We work to form strong long-term partnerships with local companies to help them achieve their ESG goals while helping vulnerable young people and their families.

At Camphill School Aberdeen, we welcome staff from different firms who have picked the school as their chosen charity to spend time across our three campuses taking part in a project that suits the needs and goals of their group.

Over time we’ve had people from various organisations join us in painting sheds and outdoor furniture, along with all sorts of gardening projects.

Other businesses choose to make CSA their chosen charity, hold fundraising activities and initiatives, and very kindly donate the proceeds directly to Camphill.

Earlier this year Subsea7 very kindly donated Easter eggs and raised more than £360 through an Easter egg raffle as well as volunteering on our Murtle estate to help plant new grass seed, paint fences and undertake estate work. We have had 3 amazing groups of volunteers out onside delivering over 270 hrs.

This inspired them to donate a further £7,233 to help refurbish one of our beautiful greenhouses – and the Subsea7team recently visited to see the difference their funds would make to young people with additional support needs. We look forward to watching the partnership grow.

Any support makes a real difference to the lives of the children and young people here at CSA and gives something back to our local community.

We have a range of projects we are looking to raise money for ranging from arts and crafts materials to a golf buggy to take children with mobility issues across the estates as well as our £10 million, Building Futures Transforming Lives Campaign,

Phase one of the campaign is to build a new 11 bedroomed residential house, with independent living wing to enable us to increase the number of young people with complex additional support needs here at Camphill School Aberdeen.

Alongside the house, we are developing a new social enterprise, Murtle Market, which will enable more young people we support to access meaningful work experience, skills and development.
