Camphill School Aberdeen Funding Boost For New Sensory PlayGround Project

February 8, 2024

We are thrilled to announce our exciting new outdoor sensory playground project has received £250,976 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the levelling up agenda supported by Aberdeen City Council.

This will be the first fully inclusive outdoor sensory adventure playground in Aberdeen and has been co-designed by young people here at Camphill School Aberdeen with sensory issues and learning disabilities. Once open, the playpark will be free at the point of access, open all year round and fully accessible through a booking system for all children and young people with sensory disorders who would benefit from accessing relaxed play sessions.

This funding covers the cost of one of three zones that will make up the playground. The three zones are sensory and creativity, communication and team building, and adventure and confidence. We still need to raise £375,500 from local supporters to create the other two zones and turn the right to play into a reality.

We can’t wait to see this project progressing, allowing all children and young people the right to play.
