The role of Teaching Assistant will form part of the senior education team and, underthe supervision of a teacher, will implement agreed programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom.

This could include:
Requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involveassisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management andpreparation of resources.

Leading and modelling positive behaviour management with proactive andsolution-focused approaches.

Occasionally supervising whole classes during the short-term absence ofteachers.

Sharing the School’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development, safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils. Our Teaching Assistants are vital in ensuring each pupil reaches their full potential. Each Teaching Assistant does this by developing positive working relationships with our pupils, understanding their likes, dislikes and interests so that all lessons are personalised.

To be a successful Teaching Assistant, you will need:

To have worked within Level 4 of the CSA Pupil Support Assistant gradings forat least one year.

To have demonstrated patience, compassion and resilience – all of the pupilsyou will support will be neurodiverse, which may impact their learningbehaviour and communication needs.

Great communication skills – both verbal and written communication isimportant in this role as you will be speaking to a lot of different people atdifferent times. You will also need to be able to update the pupils’ plans andhelp create learning material.

To be adaptable to different situations, demonstrating a calm approach, evenwhen under pressure.
