With a month to go until Aberdeen’s Kiltwalk, there’s still time for you and your colleagues to get involved and walk on behalf of Camphill School Aberdeen!
Taking place on Sunday, 1 June, the Kiltwalk is an annual fundraising walking event across cities in Scotland. This year’s 18-mile route starts in Banchory and finishes in Duthie Park, with a pit stop at Camphill School Aberdeen’s Camphill Estate, in Milltimber, along the way.
Why Camphill School Aberdeen?
Camphill School Aberdeen provides critical support to children and young people with complex additional support needs and learning disabilities. Families often turn to Camphill after their child has struggled within a mainstream setting.
By choosing Camphill School Aberdeen as your charity, you’ll be helping to enable vulnerable children and young people to fulfil their potential and lead meaningful lives.
Camphill School Aberdeen provides day and residential care and educational services to young people aged three to 25 across three campuses in the west of Aberdeen.
Most recently, Camphill School Aberdeen has been fundraising for its Building Futures, Transforming Lives appeal, which aims to raise £10million over 10 years, helping even more families access its sector-leading services.
The appeal has already delivered an 11-bedroom state-of-the-art residential home for seven young people and four members of staff, which opened earlier this month, and a sustainable shop and takeaway café, called Murtle Market, where the young people are learning employability skills and taking part in meaningful development.
The first phase of the fundraising campaign will also see the creation of a free-to-access outdoor sensory playground, which is due to open later this summer.
The playground is even situated on Camphill Estate, so Kiltwalkers will get to see the progress of the park as they walk by.
The second phase of the fundraising campaign will focus on redeveloping existing homes and buildings across the estate to ensure they are able to continue providing sector-leading care and meet the charity’s net-zero commitments.
Why the Kiltwalk?
The Kiltwalk is a great opportunity to support a local charity at a local event while team building with colleagues. It’s a fun and active event to get involved with, and you can enjoy the stunning Aberdeenshire scenery while you walk. Additionally, the Kiltwalk’s fundraising model ensures all funds raised go to your charity of choice, plus all Gift Aid, which can be up to 25% extra of what you raised!
