Please help us build a new Therapy Centre

The Society of Friends of Camphill has been supporting the development of Camphill School Aberdeen for many years. We now want to help them in this latest exciting phase that will enable even more people to benefit from the specialist therapeutic activities that the school offers.

Next year it will be 70 years since the very first Camphill community was established in Milltimber, Aberdeen. Its aim was to help children with special needs reach their potential. Since those early days, Camphill has grown to become one of the largest international voluntary organisations dedicated to helping individuals with special needs in a holistic manner.

Recently Camphill School Aberdeen has been recognised for providing ‘sector-leading’ standards with integrated education, care and support. An essential element in this achievement is the specialist therapeutic activities that the school offers. Currently these are delivered in shared facilities in the school house.

A new therapy centre is to be built in the autumn of 2009 enabling Camphill School to provide an even higher level of therapeutic support internally to its pupils and externally to the wider local community in line with the School Development Plan.

The new centre will incorporate five specialised rooms for the following therapeutic activities: massage, play, therapeutic bath, art and counselling/speech/drama, as well as a kitchen and reception area.

The plans for the building have been approved by all relevant authorities.

The total project cost is £305,000 and the school is seeking to raise £100,000 with the balance coming from the school’s holding company, Camphill Rudolf Steiner Estates Ltd, a registered charity. We will be happy to supply you with a detailed cost breakdown, along with copies of the School Therapy Brochure and Annual Report. Construction will begin in autumn 2009 and it is anticipated that completion will be in spring 2010.
