The BA in Curative Education (BACE) is a practice-based training offered by the Camphill Rudolf Steiner Schools (CRSS) in partnership with Aberdeen University: it seeks to integrate theoretical teaching with practical experience in the Curative Education areas of care, education, therapeutic activities and crafts. The teaching is informed by the philosophical principles of Rudolf Steiner which adopt the view of the human being as a biological, social, psychological and spiritual entity. In its interdisciplinary character, the BACE represents a challenge to traditional concepts of professional training.
The Programme brings together some 80 students from all over the world; out of this number about 60 students live, work and learn in the CRSS, supported by the strong and lively commitment to ongoing learning and development that lives in the community and provides the framework of a vibrant Learning Community. The great diversity of students who have quite different outlooks, life experiences and sets of values contributes to the richness of the experience of all who live, study and learn in the CRSS.
Curative Education is a multi-disciplinary professional approach concerned with the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of children and adults with special/complex needs. It encompasses care, education, craft and artistic activities and a medical, therapeutic element.
To apply for the BA in Curative Education you must apply to Aberdeen University directly. You can contact the BACE Programme Secretary for more information or an application form.
