The Community

We are approximately 160 co-workers plus co-worker families at any one time (with places for 110 pupils in the Schools and 12 students in Cairnlee - our provision for young adults). One third of the co-workers live in Camphill on a permanent basis and the others come for a year or more with some staying on for a further four years to do our BA Programme in Curative Education.

There is always a strong international element with co-workers coming from all over the world including Germany, Denmark, Russia, Chile, Korea and even the odd Brit. Working as a Co-Worker in Camphill is an ideal oppertunity to meet many people from a whole range different cultures and backgrounds.

We have three estates: On Camphill Estate and Murtle Estate there are ten residential houses for pupils and on Cairnlee three houses for young adults. The pupils and co-workers live alongside each other and share in all the household duties.

In addition to the residential units there are many other facilities including school and workshop buildings, a farm and garden, a swimming pool and gym, a hall, medical practice and offices. The Estates lie on the suburbs of Aberdeen near the river Dee. Aberdeen (known as the silver city by the golden sands) is about 20 minutes by bus.
