A Community of learning

"The learning organization is one which is continuously expanding its capacity to create its future" (Peter Senge:1994)

Predating this thinking by Peter Senge the Camphill movement since its pioneering days in the 1940s has had a quest for knowledge and learning and a striving for personal and community development. Today we consider ourselves to be a ‘community of learning’ highly committed to individual and community growth and development. The underpinning beliefs and assumptions about the nature of human growth and development that are central to the Camphill ideals are practically reflected in our commitment to the learning and development of pupils and co-workers alike.

Key features of this commitment include ongoing academic study, research, training and development and knowledge-based reflective practice. The Schools’ training strategy and training programme provides core training in the essentials required for the job and the continuous professional development of all co-workers. The BA in Curative Education (BACE) programme prepares co-workers for their task as a curative education practitioner. In all these activities we strive to uphold the values, purpose, tasks, goals and aspirations of the Camphill Schools.
